Gerrit's DJ journey began in the late phase of the Golden Era Hip Hop in Münster, Westphalia. Using vinyl, turntables, and battle mixers, he mastered the art of mixing, scratching, and beat juggling in his youth room. His first public DJ performance was in 1999 at a local youth center in Münster. Gerrit, known as "DJ Genos", supported various local rap acts as a stage DJ behind the 1210s. This experience led to a long-standing residency at Skaters Palace for the "Palace Lounge" aftershow parties. Alongside other gigs, he co-founded the highly successful party series "Against Bling Bling." By the mid-2000s, his musical exploration began extending beyond rap towards electronic music.
In the late 2000s, Gerrit moved to Kiel to study Communication Design at the Art Academy, marking a new chapter in his DJ life. First he brought the ABB party series to Kiel, finding a second home at the "Luna Club". Then becoming a member of the newly formed "Kolect Kollektiv" significantly influenced and changed his journey. Performing on the E-Stage at the "Wilwarin Festival" 2011 was a pivotal moment, establishing his presence in the house and tech-house scenes under the name "Gramufon". Numerous gigs as part of "Kolect" followed, making him a familiar face in all the key clubs around Kiel. The club "detail" became his second living room, both on and off the stage, and he played an active role in the "Habitat Festival" that emerged from this club. A definite highlight of this period was playing on the "Tanzwüste" stage at the "Fusion Festival" in 2015.
After a quieter phase and a period of musical evolution, it was time for a new DJ identity. Having explored house and primarily tech-house, Gerrit’s musical preference has solidified into techno. As "Gitte," he represents driving, sometimes melodic techno within a moderate tempo range of 125 to 135 BPM. Release dates and subgenres are of little importance. Instead, his sets feature diverse yet uncompromisingly danceable tracks, skillfully crafted to maintain high energy levels on the dance floor. With a reserved, Northern German stage presence, Gerrit lets his music selection, refined through many years of DJing and meticulous research, speak for itself. [Listen]
